I’m filming a podcast episode in Toronto in January. It’s for a bank, so naturally they want the topic of conversation around investing and personal tax.

I’m flattered for the invite, but it inspires me to not neglect sharing the more serious corporate work that I do.

I get many CEO’s and SMB owners who message me and want to talk about their problems.

This is stuff I don’t post on socials, because it’s boring and not optimized for views.

Here are a few highlights of conversations I have had in the last few months:

  1. Midwest US architecture firm with multiple locations throughout US and major contracts with Fortune 500 companies. Currently doing just shy of $10M and looking to scale to $25M in the next 3 years. Needs: full-stack management reporting and payroll, AI automation workflows for their proprietary ERP, monthly FP&A and annual budgeting

  2. Real estate and agriculture company in California. They own 300 acres of farmland in a very prime coastal area that has livestock, crops, flowers, tractor equipment. They have a few holding companies. The operating company needs expense management. One of the holdco’s needs dissolution advice. Another holdco is doing a tenant buyout and needs financial strategy around that. The 300 acres is not fully utilized and needs a forward-looking asset management plan.

  3. Bay Area based social services company doing ~$1M in revenue that just won a ~$2.5M contract. Need help with headcount and salary planning as business and profitability is constrained by schedule management, billable hours, and worker utilization.

  4. LA based ceramics painting company that does 7 and 8-figure contracts with states and cities (bridges, railways, pipelines), luxury car manufacturers, airplanes, etc. Owner is concerned about paying 37% federal + California tax and also wants an in-person accountant present during contractual negotiation processes.

  5. Nevada-based restaurant owner needing assistance with pricing and margins. They sell pies, pastries, meat plates, and they need help evaluating strategic growth options (Ubereats, food truck). Owner struggles with cash flow management and day-to-day operations.

  6. Bay Area salon owner that’s building a hair salon from scratch and needs help pricing services and planning the use of square footage space (luxury balayage, chair rentals, headspa treatments). She also needed tax advice for leasehold and equipment purchases that the salon will be making, that is eligible for bonus depreciation.

  7. Texas based health, supplements, and apparel company with overseas manufacturing. Typical e-commerce business model that holds inventory and has cash conversion constraints. Needs are bookkeeping and tax back-filing.

These are just a few examples that I could remember off the top of my head.

If anything in the above resonates or you have a situation you want to chat about, I would encourage you to add me on LinkedIn and send me a message there. It’s all super custom solutions.
